7 questions to ask before you hire a digital agency
29 Sept 2026 · 1 min read
Choosing who builds your website or runs your marketing is a big decision. These seven questions cut through the sales talk.
1. Who will actually work on my project?
Some agencies pitch with senior people and hand the work to someone else. Ask who you'll talk to and who does the work.
2. Can I see real work — and talk to a real client?
Screenshots are easy. Ask for live examples and, if you can, a reference you can message.
3. What exactly do I get, and what's not included?
Look for a written scope: pages, features, revisions, content, hosting, support. Vague scopes lead to surprise bills.
4. Who owns the work when it's finished?
You should know whether you own the design, the code and the accounts — and what happens if you want to move on.
5. How will we communicate?
Ask how often you'll get updates and where questions get answered. A clear channel matters more than a fancy process.
6. What happens after launch?
Websites and apps need updates, backups and fixes. Ask what ongoing support looks like and how it's priced.
7. How do you handle marketing and reputation?
Be wary of anyone promising overnight rankings, guaranteed followers or fake reviews. Honest growth is slower, but it lasts.
The short version
A good partner explains things simply, puts the scope in writing, shows real results, and is comfortable telling you what they won't do. If you'd like to see how we work, start with a short brief and we'll reply with a clear plan.
